About the project

A film poster has to do a lot in a single frame: set the tone, introduce the characters and make people want to watch. This collection brings together posters we’ve designed for short films, feature films and documentaries from Sri Lanka’s Tamil film scene.

Every poster starts from the film itself. Some are quiet and textured, like the faded paper of Appa Vanthaar or the archival documents of Minporikkul Sampoor. Others are loud and celebratory, like Yugaveera and Kaalaiyan. Hand-crafted Tamil title lettering ties each one to its story.
